Funds from sales taxes and hotel bed taxes have exceeded the City of Goleta’s expectations so far this fiscal year, and they are set to bring in, with some help from development-related fees, approximately $1 million more than anticipated. At this week’s Goleta City Council meeting, councilmembers voted unanimously to assign most of that projected $1 million to the town’s City Hall savings account — for a total of about $1.6 million set aside for developing a new civic center — and to street maintenance.
