Jose Hurtado, a 59-year-old Santa Barbara resident, was arrested 12/18 on charges of continuous sexual abuse of a child, kidnap to commit rape, and false imprisonment. Police said a teenage girl had been the victim of repeated sexual abuse by Hurtado in 2006 and 2007 when she was 10 years old and living with her parents and Hurtado on the 700 block of Cook Avenue. Officers also discovered two additional victims who said they were repeatedly sexually abused by Hurtado when they were 14 years old. One of the victims had lived with her mother and her sister and Hurtado at the Cook Avenue residence in 1996, and the other had lived with Hurtado when she was a teenager in Mexico in 1975. Hurtado was booked in County Jail and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for 1/7.

The usual suspect- a pedophile who gains trust of ignorant parents and children.

Why weren't the proper safeguards put in motion after the first incident, which was one too many? After all, he had been arrested. How many children had to suffer at the hands of someone like this before substantive measures were put in place? This article is incredible just to read!

The "proper safeguards" weren't put in place because unfortunately there's what AZ2SB points out (ignorant parents) and the politically correct mindset that if you accuse a "minority" person of such a thing you run the risk of being a racist.

I'm afraid I couldn't allow, in light of the gravity of the felony, peripheral issues, including name calling, to preclude swift and thorough action in such a matter. You see, a predator has been on the prowl. I personally feel heads should roll. And as far as name calling is concerned, "frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."

Blah- I call b.s. on your race card statement, and if you follow the news will see that minorities get nailed more and are given more time than the majorities.

Blah, we know by READING that one of them stated he molested her in MX. But to make a general statement that people would not report molestation of their child because of the race of the predator?

What an idiotic statement to make...and browsing some of the other threads on here, you seem to make them often.
