Smatterings of blood cover the sidewalk in front of Starbucks and inside its doorway

Right now, at 10 a.m. Friday morning, there is a thick trail of blood that runs between the Starbucks coffee house on the corner of State and Victoria streets and the back of nearby Peoples’ Self-Help Housing at 26 East Victoria Street.

A small area of pavement behind Peoples’ Self-Help Housing looks like it was recently cleaned, but the trail appears again in the parking area, continues through an adjacent breezeway onto the east side of State Street, runs north along State, crosses the street, then ends inside the Starbucks, which is closed. A puddle of blood is visible through the locked doorway.

A police spokesperson said she was unaware of any recent violent incident in the area, and suggested more information may be available in the next hour. A Starbucks employee declined to comment. Peoples’ Self-Help Housing was not immediately reachable by phone.

Check back for updates.

[UPDATE, 12 p.m.]: Rochelle Rose with Peoples’ Self-Help Housing explained that one of their tenants experienced a medical emergency at the Starbucks this morning and walked back to their location to seek help. The man remains in the hospital, she said. Rose declined to offer additional details on the incident, citing the issue as a private medical matter.

Independent Discussion Guidelines

It's not a private medical matter when blood is all over the street and a business. Rather, it's very much a PUBLIC health matter.
At some point, the plethora of homeless people in town, many of whom are in poor health mentally and physically, will catch up with us.

People's Self-Help Housing gets to play by different rules in this town. They get free passes all the time.

HIPAA - look it up a-holes.

(Apparently, homeless people don't have the same rights as others...)

HIPPA applies to an individuals medical condition privacy; not the identity of who left a trail of blood on our city streets.

Since it was indeed a private medical situation only gossips would feel the need for more info.

By private medical situation, do they mean a stabbing?

"By private medical situation, do they mean a stabbing?"

That would be the obvious conclusion... and it is not a "private medical situation" when it literally spills out all over our streets.

There was no open wound or stabbing!

Clearly more to this story... a teenager that is friends with someone I know was there, and didn't know what was going on but posted this on facebook that morning, " i was in starbucks before school & like i was waiting for my coffee and i looked over and there was a giant puddle of blood on the floor and there was this homeless man and his leg was bleeding really intensely and he was losing a lot of blood and it was really scary & he was yelling at the people who work at starbucks saying that he didn't want them to call the hospital because "if god wanted him to lose his leg then god didn't want him going to a hospital" and im still in shock because of it. i had to leave because i was gonna be late for school but the last i saw was him yelling at the starbucks workers and one lady trying to call 911:

That description doesn't jive with any of the facts reported sbsand.

Check out "jive" versus jibe since you seem to like to nitpick others regarding this sort of stuff. (Maybe include "ect." vs. etc. while you're at it.)
Re the story: Pretty gross and ceratainly a public health risk regardless of source of blood. That Starbucks has pretty much become a vagrant center despite their efforts to deal with things. One guy even has a sort of tarp/lean-to set up on some days against State St. side wall.

Thank you for the corrections pecanpie.
Yes blood is gross. If there had been a violent attack why would the police cover-up? Where has an actual witness other than some alleged FB status update said there was a violent attack?

So if there were a violent attack, why would there be a cover-up?

How about addressing causes of homelessness rather than just the symptoms?

"There was no open wound or stabbing"

You seem pretty definite about that Ken. What was it then?
That blood had to come from somewhere...

Yep. Think about all the places blood could flow from without an outside wound. I'm pretty positive you have a human body with all the usual orifices, thankfully it wasn't the nethermost one!

Why do people think the police would cover up a violent attack at Starbucks unless they were doing the attacking?! Then sadly many of you would be happy I fear.

Heck it could've been the Starbucks coffee itself that caused the bleeding, their brews are usually on the bitter side!

Okay, Ken what are the causes of "homelessness" ,including causation for all the sub-categories of those who are labeled "homeless".

The cause of "homelessness" is people do not have homes. Or they choose informal choices of shelter out of preference. Or refuse the sobriety requirement or religious commitment of shelters that do exist. Or choose intentionally a lifestyle and/or location that insures they will not obtain a home for themselves.

Prop 43 provides state money in addition to federal SSI disability payments for those with mental impairments. The government social safety net provides approximately $40K in goods in services, including housing vouchers.

So indeed, what does cause some people to choose "homelessness". Primarily the lack of state care facilities, which should be the main focus of the billions raised by Prop 43.

See if you can stay close to the actual cause and effect and not launch into a global polemic this time and avoid the practical aspects of this question.

More important, why is it so important to you that some nefarious deed to have occured?
I'm sorry Foo, I'm not getting into a semantical rabbit hole with a nerd.

For chrissakes, there's blood, spit, urine and fecal matter all over town. We all deal with it every day; what mattered here was the sheer volume of blood spilled. It could've been just a really nasty bloody nose, given how dry it was and is.

There is no story folks, nobody else is saying what they saw or what happened that I can find and don't see a story on KEYT about it at all... what happened? Of course I want to know if he was attacked or if he was contagious or if it was a self inflicted injury or if there is a danger of some sort, this is my town and I go to that Starbucks at times. What happened? It feels like it's a secret and that is disconcerting.

SBsand is correct, there is NO story so let's just make one up! Why don't we bring in Geraldo while we're at it, or the Warren Commission.
