Hawaii Visits UCSB in ESPNU Men’s Basketball

UPDATE: Westmont College has advanced into the semifinals of the Golden State Athletic Conference men’s and women’s basketball tournaments. The Warrior women defeated Concordia 70-56 in the opening round and will play at The Master’s in Santa Clarita on Friday night. The men will travel to face top-seeded Vanguard on Saturday after defeating Biola 77-60.

Postseason college basketball begins tonight (Wed., March 5) when Westmont College hosts Concordia in the women’s opener of the Golden State Athletic Conference Tournament. The Warriors are seeded third. They finished second in the tournament last year and went on to win the NAIA national championship.

Westmont will face Biola in La Mirada on Thursday night in the first round of the men’s GSAC Tournament. UCSB plays its final Big West men’s home game Thursday against Hawaii. The 6 pm game will be televised on ESPNU.

Santa Barbara High’s girls basketball team, the last prep team standing in the winter playoffs, will play for the CIF Southern Section Division 3AA championship at 2 pm Saturday at Azusa Pacific University. Presale tickets will be available at the high school office until 4 pm Thursday and Friday.

Friday, 3/7: Men’s volleyball – L.A. Trade Tech at SBCC, 6 pm; UC San Diego at UCSB, Rob Gym, 7 pm. Women’s basketball – GSAC Tournament semifinal: Westmont at The Master’s, 7 pm.

Saturday, 3/8: Men’s tennis – Georgetown at UCSB, 11 am. Women’s tennis – UC Davis at UCSB, 12 pm. Baseball – Hancock at SBCC, 1 pm. Women’s basketball – Cal Poly at UCSB, 2 pm. Men’s basketball – UCSB at Cal Poly, 7 pm; GSAC Tournament semifinal: Westmont at Vanguard, 7:30 pm.

Sunday, 3/9: Women’s tennis – Fresno State at UCSB, 10 am. Men’s tennis – Radford at UCSB, 1 pm.


Wednesday, 3/5: Boys volleyball – Santa Ynez at Santa Barbara, 6 pm.

Thursday, 3/6: Baseball – Arroyo Grande at Santa Barbara, 3:30 pm. Boys volleyball – Oxnard at Dos Pueblos, 6 pm.

Friday, 3/7: Swimming – Channel League Relays at Santa Barbara, 2 pm. Baseball – Agoura at Dos Pueblos, 3:15 pm. Softball – St. Joseph at San Marcos, 4 pm.

Saturday, 3/8: Girls basketball – CIF-SS Division 3AA final: Santa Barbara vs. Lakeside at Azusa Pacific University, 2 pm.
