SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (March 18, 2014) – Live Oak Music Festival, the annual Fathers’ Day weekend event held in the hills near Santa Barbara, tunes up for its 26th annual event, slated for Friday through Sunday, June 13-15, 2014, by announcing this year’s initial lineup of performers.

Headliners so far include: JD McPherson, an Oklahoma native and expert blender of rhythm and blues with rock ‘n’ roll, old styles and new; and Grammy-winning folk artist and songwriter Dave Alvin with his brother, Phil Alvin, and The Guilty Ones band. Holly Williams, granddaughter of the legendary Hank Williams, will entertain the audience on Sunday, June 15.

With a long list of main stage acts, and genres ranging from folk, rhythm and blues, and roots rock to Latin, reggae, Americana and world music, the festival will showcase some of the finest musicians in the world.

The current lineup of performers is as follows:

Friday, 9:00 p.m.: Dave Alvin with Phil Alvin and The Guilty Ones—Grammy-winning brothers who originally formed Downey, CA blues/rockabilly/early rock ‘n’ roll band The Blasters—will perform, backed by The Guilty Ones, the band that has played for Dave throughout his critically-acclaimed career as a solo artist and songwriter. The performance will be a blend of Americana, blues, and roots rock. Although they have occasionally played together since Dave Alvin’s departure from The Blasters in 1986, the brothers recently announced that they will be recording their first album together in 30 years, Common Ground, a tribute to blues legend Big Bill Broonzy, to be released just before the festival in June 2014.

Saturday, 8:45 p.m.: JD McPherson, the roots rock, rockabilly, and rhythm and blues artist and songwriter who has been featured in Rolling Stone and on The Late Show with David Letterman, will deliver one of his renowned, highly energetic live performances.

Sunday, 6:45 p.m. (just prior to Sunday’s headlining act, TBD): Nashville singer-songwriter and granddaughter of legendary country star Hank Williams, Holly Williams, will take the stage on Sunday evening. Holly’s album “The Highway” was named Top 10 of 2013 by People Magazine and includes the track “Giving Up,” named in the top 50 songs of 2012 by NPR Music. With a distinctly personal spin on common country music themes like love, loss and desire, The L.A. Times recently said of Williams “There’s still more of an indie-folk flavor to most of her songs, but now she’s making music that best fits the tales she has to spin, and if that takes her into rootsy country, or meaty rock a la the Band, so be it.”

Friday, 7:00 p.m.: Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas, one of the tightest bands in Zydeco, fast and furious dance music from Southern Louisiana

Saturday, 5:00 p.m.: The Lions, a collection of L.A.’s top ska, soul and reggae musicians and the city’s most popular reggae band

Sunday, 5:00 p.m.: La Santa Cecilia, Grammy-winning Latin rock and world music hybrid

Other musicians not to miss include:

Zongo All Stars, a big, fun, hot Afro-Caribbean dance band from San Luis Obispo County; Blind Boy Paxton, traditional acoustic blues music; Boogaloo Assassins, an 11-piece boogaloo band, blending Latin dance, R&B and soul; Dustbowl Revival, an Americana, roots, and jazz collective; Lily & Madeleine, teenage sisters with assured, worldly voices, sweet harmonies and a contemporary folk sound; Marley’s Ghost, virtuoso Americana multi-instrumentalists and singer-songwriters; and more to come!
