Masked Man with Machete Attacks Isla Vista Resident

Victim Suffers Wound to Arm and Head

A masked man with a machete reportedly broke into an Isla Vista residence and attacked another man when he returned to his apartment complex on the 700 block of Camino Del Sur at around 4 p.m. on Monday. The victim confronted the suspect and suffered a laceration to his arm and was bleeding from his head when authorities responded, according to a UCSB alert that was sent out to the campus community at approximately 5:30 p.m. Police are still looking for the unidentified suspect — described as wearing all black, a hat with green stripes, and a black mask — who fled the scene in an unknown direction. Further details are not yet available, and the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation.
