Goleta is one of the 100 best small to mid-sized cities to live in, coming in 79th on Livability.com’s second-annual Best 100 Places to Live in the United States.

“The rest of the country is finding out what we already know – that Goleta is a great place to live and work,” Mayor Michael T. Bennett said in a statement. “Events like the Lemon Festival and the Dam Dinner, the community feeling, great schools, and the beautiful setting make Goleta a true gem.”

Goleta was one of more than 2,000 cities considered for the ranking, which was decided by a group of academics, city planners, and researchers. Cities with populations between 20,000 and 350,000 were ranked based on public and private data on amenities, demographics, economics, education, health care, housing, social and civic capital, and transportation.

Livability.com mentions Goleta’s Coronado Butterfly Preserve, UCSB, and the presence of tech companies like Raytheon, Citrix Online, and Cisco as a few of the city’s best assets.
