Well, word is that Floyd the barber was up at Mount Pilot visiting Aunt Thema and leaned against a pile of wood that threw a switch at the power station up there killing the power for a spell. Barney was the only one at the station in Mayberry and started running in circles when the phone wouldn’t work as he tried to call Sheriff Andy. Has it really come to this? How many power outages do we have to tolerate here in the Santa Barbara area?

I grew up near Disneyland in Orange County, and I’m hard pressed to remember if there was even a single power outage in the first 18 years of my life. Do the SCE guys have some grasp of what Ohm’s law is? Do we have some sort of local fight between the great-great-great-grandsons of Edison and Westinghouse going on for who will supply power to our community? What gives, and why so many problems so often?
