Keep Oil Domestic

I have seen a lot of news coverage on Measure P but what a lot of the coverage fails to address is the importance of domestic oil and gas production. We currently ship 50 percent of the oil we consume from foreign countries, and 20 percent of that comes from unstable areas like Russia and the Middle East. Why would we want to shut down domestic onshore oil and gas production here in Santa Barbara County? Despite its supporter’s claims, that is what Measure P would do.

We have the strongest environmental laws in the world, and we can safely produce and transport it within our own borders. Measure P would make us more dependent on imported foreign oil. Vote “no” on Measure P.
