Murder Suspect Identified

Police have identified the suspect in Wednesday morning’s murder as 39-year-old Aubrey Dupree Wadford. The victim’s name has still not been release pending notification of her family, and authorities declined to provide additional details on the incident.

According to initials reports, officers responded to an apartment in the 500 block of West Los Olivos Street at 1:40 a.m. on a domestic disturbance call. They made contact with Wadford at the door and found the 39-year-old female victim dead inside. Wadford and the victim’s 2-year-old daughter was discovered unharmed in the apartment and is now under the care of Child Welfare Services. Police have not said how the victim was killed.

Wadford is scheduled for arraignment Friday morning in Santa Barbara Superior Court.
