So much for transparency. As Americans watched the fifth GOP debate in Vegas, House Speaker Paul Ryan unveiled his $1.6 trillion deal on government funding and taxes. A final vote will be held Friday.

Democratic pollster Pat Caddell said, “The $1.6 trillion omnibus spending bill is one of the greatest giveaways to special interests ever devised. The Republicans handed over everything to the Democrats in order to allow oil companies to export oil.”

What is contained in the bloated, budget-busting bill? The postponement of the Cadillac tax (expensive health-care plans), five-year extension of tax breaks for wind and solar companies, and relief from tough caps on spending. The Democrats blocked 150 GOP proposals. Simply put, this bill reverses recent gains in lowering the deficit. Furthermore, efforts to stop federal funding of Planned Parenthood, stick to tight budget cuts, and stop Syrian refugees go virtually ignored. So much for what Americans want.

Is it any wonder Americans are angry and want to elect outsiders in the next election?
