1/2: College Men’s Basketball: Point Loma at UCSB The prodigal sons return. UCSB has not played on its home court since a December 3 loss to USC. The Gauchos traveled as far away as South Dakota and Vermont during a stretch of out-of-state games. At one point, they had suffered five consecutive losses until securing an 80-76 victory over Iona at a tournament in Las Vegas, thanks to Michael Bryson’s career-high 29 points and Mitch Brewe’s late tip-in. They need a commanding performance against Point Loma, an NCAA Division II school, in their final nonconference game. They hit the road again for their Big West opener at Hawai‘i and will not be home again until a January 16 showdown against UC Irvine. 4pm. The Thunderdome, UCSB. $11-$14.
