Just a few days after UCSB evacuated a number of campus buildings over reports of an unattended and suspicious backpack, the school ordered another evacuation early Saturday morning after a “suspicious package” was discovered near a dormitory. Both incidents turned out to be false alarms.

Residents of the Santa Rosa dorm were told to move to the San Nicholas dorm at about 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, UCSB police said in an email alert. The package was found outside the De La Guerra Commons dining hall. Residents returned to their dorm rooms after about two hours and after police said the package “was examined and found not to be dangerous.” No additional details were provided.
