The Santa Barbara Independent sincerely apologizes for the unexpected downtime on Independent.com this morning, which was the result of complications from a series of weekly digital upgrades.

We recently updated our content management system to a cloud-hosted service, and are working through the usual glitches that come from transferring years of content to a more modern platform. Independent.com was reportedly the only site in the network affected by this upgrade.

We regret the downtime and are working with our service provider to ensure that failures of this sort do not happen in the future. There are still repercussions from this morning’s downtime that are being addressed by our digital team.
