Suzanne Peck shared The Santa Barbara Independent’s education issue with this one-month-old pachyderm at the Patara Elephant Farm in Chiangmai, Thailand. Though the as-yet-unnamed calf acted out with a territorial head-butt that knocked Peck, a member of the county’s Commission for Women, flat, home schooling by mother Mae Sri Noi and a local mahout will teach him how to safely transport visitors on bareback rides through the surrounding jungle. An A+ for an astonishing adventure, said Peck.
