1/16-1/17: High School Girls Water Polo: Tournament of Champions It’s a dress rehearsal for the CIF Division 1 play-offs, but instead of taking two weeks, it will be completed in two days. Every top 10 team in this week’s CIF poll will compete, headed by No. 1 Laguna Beach, the defending TOC champ. The Breakers feature Stanford-bound attacker Makenzie Fischer, who is touted as the nation’s best player. No. 5 San Marcos is the top-ranked area team, led by junior Paige Hauschild and senior goalkeeper Jenna Phreaner. Dos Pueblos is ranked No. 8. The DP pool will host the play-offs for 1st-8th place on Saturday; 9th-6th will be decided at Santa Barbara and consolation games at San Marcos High. Fri.: 12:30-7:30pm. Sat.: 9am-4:35pm.
