The use of Homeland Security funding as a “political football” regarding the president’s immigration policies was condemned by Rep. Lois Capps in a press release reacting to Wednesday’s House vote. The funding sunsets at the end of February, and a 236-191 vote refunded it but removed the protections granted by President Obama in November intended to keep immigrant families – immigrant parents and U.S.A.-born children, for instance – together.
“Among several partisan actions, amendments were added to the bill to cut both the Deferred Action for Parental Accountability and the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) programs, affecting thousands of DREAMers and their families along the Central Coast,” said Capps. “These actions would lead to the deportation of hard-working students who were brought to the United States as children and know no other country as their home. The bill would also lead to increased deportation of parents of American children, needlessly tearing apart millions of families, while diverting resources away from deporting dangerous felons and threats to national security.”
The legislation goes next to the Senate. After Republicans won both House and Senate majorities in last November’s election, political pundits have speculated that President Obama will use his veto power – which he has used only twice in his five years in office – to keep Congress from overturning his executive orders on immigration.
Comments
Much as a corporate CEO issues memos, presidential executive orders are intended for instructing executive branch agencies and departments in how to implement *laws passed by congress*.
Recent presidents, of whom obomber is by far the worst, have used them, illegally, to make law, usurping legislation they don't like.
Capps is a clown, and a dupe of warmongering psychopaths.
When she votes for illegal wars that kill and maim millions — four just in the past 16 months — she's "working across the aisle". When the elephant gang supports legislation opposed by the jackass gang, they're being "partisan."

Oh, Lois. It is not partisan football. Who programmed you to say that. It is sound policy to stop illegal immigration and these fiscal giveaways.
Illegal immigration is costing the state $25 billion net a year. "English learners" flooding our schools have destroyed California K-12 and no amount of money can fix it.
Why wouldn't we want and need to stop this gaping budget and performance hole and replace it with sound policy for everyone? Get a grip Lois and stop drinking your party kool-aid.
You are supposed to represent us, not your party's membership drive agenda.

Regarding "Audit the Fed!", for those not yet informed on this issue but who would like to be, of course there's plenty of text material from a wide variety of independent media sources.
Also, below, from my archives ( ;-) ), are one brief video and three infographics (click the first two infographics to fully enlarge; the third does not enlarge, but the three key points are legible):

I'm hoping O. DOES veto the way this bill has been rewritten by the GOP and Tea-baggers. Bush '41 has 12 vetoes in his 8 years; Obama has just 2 in 6 years, so O. hasn't abused this power. Capps is right to slam the GOP's "use of Homeland Security funding as a 'political football' regarding the president’s immigration policies". THEY have nothing, and will remain obstructionist until the end of this sorry Congressional session.

Regarding "...Bush '41 has 12 vetoes in his 8 years; Obama has just 2 in 6 years, so O. hasn't abused this power...", to clarify *only in the event* that was in reference to "...Recent presidents, of whom obomber is by far the worst, have used them, illegally, to make law, usurping legislation they don't like..." < that was in reference to executive orders, not vetoes.

it's not partisan, Capps. Except you just made it so. it is legal or illegal. Both parties should be on the same page if you recall your own oath of office, Ms Capps.

Ms Capps Oath of Office that she just recited. How quickly she forgets these days:
“I, Lois Capps, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”

Capps doesn't take such things seriously.

I agree with Capps, this partisan stuff is terrible. Eliminate all parties except for the Communist party and the problem is solved.

Capps decries people who support a country of laws.
In a late breaking news release from Rep. Capps' office, the esteemed (by this newspaper) congressperson (not congresswoman, mind you) stated the unequivocal support for her wishes and emotional feeling to triumph over any laws or intentions of congress when it comes to Illegal Immigration and the Illegal Aliens that make up that population of law breakers.
