Mu Delta Thanks I.V. Foot Patrol in Video

Monday, June 22, 2015

Pledges at Mu Delta fraternity decided the best way to thank the Isla Vista Foot Patrol for looking after their community was to put together a video of UCSB students showing their appreciation. Director Will Mehring explained they wanted to shift the often negative lens on the Foot Patrol to one of the "feeling of safety and relief" when the Foot Patrol and UCSB Police came to a scene. "In a day-to-day situation or party settings," he said, "students don't always remember the role these officers play in critical and dangerous moments."

The film couldn't have been made, Mehring added, without the editing skills of Alex Stathis, whose brother Chris is a pledge, and the always helpful assistance of Deputy Kim Fryslie.
