Trying to unravel the ISIS ideology is complex. Behavior of Islamic terrorists is not however, it is unfathomable, amoral, and completely antithetical to the American mind. A long history of horrid social and political conditions, arbitrary border impositions by the British, American’s heavy boot prints along with impossible desert survival cannot be denied. Hopelessness makes a population of young men ripe for plucking. The now ruling caliphate or emir, Abu Bakr al Baghdadi in the areas once known as Iraqi and Syria, has filled that void with gusto.

There is no political correctness in describing, even fairly, Islamic terrorist methods: the ISIS ideology of indiscriminate and prolific murder, rape, mass beheadings, suicide bombers, ethic genocide, deliberate destruction or sale of ancient artifacts, and WAY too many unbelievable horrors. And all this to accomplish their mission: which is what exactly?

ISIS is widely believed to be the richest terrorist organization in the world, with its daily income estimated at up to $3 million a day. According to the PEW Institute, CNN, and the Counter Extremism Project, funding comes mostly from extortion and general criminal enterprises within the lawless territories they control, much like the Mafia. Taxes on everything and extorted payoffs are their key funding mechanisms, also used is oil theft and smuggling and then of course there are the donor sympathizers from Qatar, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.

The non-terrorism world calls this a complete breakdown of human rights for living people. How does one empathize with the belief that life on earth is chiefly endured for glorious life after death? Allah is the only law, they say, and who makes Allah’s law? These thugs?

How do we as a nation, and for that matter individuals, deal or cope with this horror. Solutions are slim and none. Sending American troops is folly. We should be plenty nervous. ISIS is making great strides.
