Santa Barbara County Fire Department officials responded Monday at approximately 3:28 p.m. to a fire in the center divider along Highway 101 about 2 miles south of Los Alamos. According to the fire information hotline, the vegetation fire has burned 3/4 acre in the highway’s center divider and, due to smoke, traffic has slowed in both directions. No traffic accidents have been reported, and the California Highway Patrol is directing traffic while the smoke clears. Three fire engines, one water tender truck, and multiple fire units are on scene, as well as the county’s fire battalion chief.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, as Santa Barbara County Fire Captain Dave Zaniboni reported on the fire hotline.
