Upwards of 100 vehicles, including a school bus, became trapped Friday afternoon along Highway 166 after heavy rains and floods swept through the area in northern Santa Barbara County. Captain David Zaniboni with County Fire said the department has dispatched multiple engines, a dozer, helicopter, and water rescue crew, but teams have so far been unable to access the scene near Spanish Ranch because of the heavy flooding.

Officials have completely closed the highway, which had seen increased traffic since Interstate 5 at the Grapevine shut down earlier in the day. Motorists heading to or from the Central Coast are advised to take Highway 46 as an alternate route, Department of Transportation officials said.
