[Update, 4:30 p.m.]

Southern California Edison estimates power will be restored by 11:00 p.m. Tuesday night, according to the map of current outages.

[Original Story]

An ongoing power outage that began Tuesday at approximately 1:48 p.m. on East Valley Road at Highway 192 in Montecito left “1,300 or 1,400” residents without power at its height, according to a customer service representative from Southern California Edison (SCE), the company supplying electricity to Santa Barbara County and its unincorporated areas.

Although SCE’s map of current outages does not list an estimated restoration time, the outage is due to “equipment problems” and SCE crew members are “testing the lines to limit the number of customers affected.” Currently, 104 homes remain without power, according to a 4:00 p.m. update from a SCE customer service representative.
