Across the county, five Freedom Warming Centers offer refuge from the rain February 17-18.

Freedom Warming Centers Open

Rain Expected Wednesday

With a 90 percent chance of rain Wednesday and predicted lows in the 40s Thursday night, five Freedom Warming Centers will offer shelter February 17-18 from 6 p.m.-5:30 a.m. The locations are:

• Santa Barbara: First United Methodist Church, 305 East Anapuma Street

• Isla Vista: University Methodist Church, 892 Camino Del Sur

• Carpinteria: Carpinteria Community Church, 1111 Vallecito Road

• Santa Maria: Salvation Army, 200 West Cook Street

• Lompoc: Peace Lutheran Church, 1000 West Ocean Boulevard

Warm clothing and bottled water donations are needed at the emergency severe weather shelters. For volunteer information and to stay up to date on shelter hours and locations, people may call the hotline at (805) 324-2372.
