A weekend outing filled with all kinds of cool stuff brought 23 schoolboys from Carpinteria and Santa Barbara to Coast Village Road on Saturday as the United Boys & Girls Club of Santa Barbara County teamed up with merchants to host “An Evening in Montecito.” Among other freebies at the charitable event, the kids got haircuts at Richie’s Barber Shop, pizza from Giovanni’s, Scoops ice cream, blended drinks from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, ball caps from All-In, and socks from Dani Boy.

The nonprofit youth organization – launched in 1952 in Goleta — serves more than 3,000 kids countywide, with programs in Santa Barbara, Carpinteria, Goleta, Isla Vista, and Lompoc.
