“I could keep writing stories until Harry is a senior citizen,” author J.K. Rowling once said about her beloved series, “but I don’t know how many people would actually want to read about a 65-year-old Harry…” Turns out — everybody. It’s been nine years since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was published and five since the last film adaptation of the books premiered, but Harry’s popularity hasn’t waned one iota. So, thanks to overwhelming fan requests, the rehearsal script from the hit West End play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which premiered June 7 and was cowritten by Rowling, has been put into book format and will be available to the public at midnight on July 30. To celebrate its arrival, Chaucer’s Books is having a release party that will include crafts, activities, a trivia competition, and a costume contest. Reserve your copy before you attend so you’ll be sure to get one. The party is Saturday, July 30, at 10:30 p.m. at Chaucer’s Books (3321 State St.). Call (805) 682-6787 or see chaucersbooks.com.
