Caltrans Offers Higher Education Scholarships

High school seniors with an interest in careers as diverse as engineering, archaeology, or mechanics could qualify for a $750 scholarship offered by Caltrans District 5. The money is for a student enthused about transportation in general and headed for college or a trade school. Caltrans District 5 — which covers the counties of Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Cruz — raised the money through its coffee and baked goods sales at its SLO headquarters. Three scholarships will be awarded, and the instructions on how to apply can be viewed here. Applications are due April 29.
