A Proud Promise Indeed

The news today that SBCC will now be offering free tuition for two years to local students through its SBCC Promise program brought tears of joy to my eyes! We are witnessing a sea change with the hiring of Dr. Beebe and now this announcement, placing greater emphasis on serving local students at SBCC — “town to gown.” I wholeheartedly support this change and will do everything in my power to support SBCC in these efforts going forward to see that the promise is fulfilled.

As a neighbor of SBCC, I have been an outspoken opponent of the creation of “dorms” and high-density student housing on the Mesa. I will continue to oppose any efforts to “I.V. the Mesa” and I see these actions as positive steps in the right direction. A win-win situation for sure!
