Bruce Porter, 3rd District Supervisor candidate, has told the public that he would keep his full-time job as a broker with the investment company Edward Jones if he became a county supervisor. In response to criticism that it is impossible to effectively work two full-time jobs, Porter said he would hire an MBA to work with clients, evidently providing him the time to be a county supervisor.

I have worked as a fee-based financial consultant for over 30 years and can attest to the fact that Porter’s dual job proposal is an impossible undertaking. Only Porter can provide investment advice to his clients; he holds the license to advise his clients, not his employee. Yes, the “MBA” could provide administrative support, but it is Porter’s legal responsibility to directly engage and advise each client, he cannot delegate that responsibility.

So, Porter has created the “impossible job”; 40 hours a week as a broker, 60 hours a week as a supervisor.

If you want a supervisor that is solely dedicated to the complicated and time consuming job of representing you in the 3rd District, vote for Joan Hartmann; she is smart, energetic, and prepared.
