11/3: High School Girls Volleyball: CIF play-off at Laguna Blanca The top-ranked Owls received a bye into the second round of the Division 6 play-offs and will face either Bell Gardens or Pioneer as they begin their quest for a second straight championship. They went 21-1 during the regular season, including three-game sweeps of Santa Barbara, San Marcos, and Dos Pueblos. The next round will be the quarterfinals (Sat., Nov. 5), followed by the semifinals (Tues., Nov. 8). If the seedings hold up, Laguna Blanca would face Santa Ynez (21-2) in the final on November 10 or 11. 7pm. Merovick Gymnasium, Laguna Blanca School, 4125 Paloma Dr. $5-$10. Call (805) 687-2461.
