Ugly Politics Roll

I am casting my vote for U.S. Congressional Representative for Salud Carbajal. As a retired educator, senior citizen, and a woman, I know he best represents me and my family. I worked with Salud on many projects protecting the health and safety of all schoolchildren over the past 26 years. When you work together for that long, you get to know what a person believes. Salud champions women, health care, our military and veterans, the health of our environment and land.

Having voted for almost a half century, I have witnessed the rancor, dirty tricks, misrepresentation, and mean spirit of many elections. This year’s election may have topped all of the others!

No matter what Salud said to a friend and what it meant to the two of them, the political ends that the comment was used for is just that — how ugly politics roll in this 2016 election. It was unfortunate that the comment was made, and it certainly bit Salud’s Lompoc supporters. However, now is not the time to throw away the congressional seat and play into the hands of the folks who would have us give up on all the areas we fight so hard to protect.

Salud has my vote and the vote of my USAF retired husband, Wally. Salud’s actions and the leadership he has provided throughout his career in our county says it all for me.
