Frimpong to Stand Trial

The alleged rapist's DNA was not found inside her, but hers was found on him. That was the testimony of California Department of Justice criminologist Lillian Tugado, who took the stand Monday, July 9, during a preliminary hearing in the rape prosecution of UCSB soccer player Eric Frimpong. D.A. Launches Frimpong Rape Case

While the rest of the UCSB men's soccer team was fted by President Bush in a June 18 White House ceremony honoring its undefeated championship season, star player Eric Frimpong was sitting in Santa Barbara County Superior Court facing rape charges. During a preliminary hearing, Deputy District Attorney Mary Barron called two sheriff's investigators to the stand to describe their interviews with Frimpong's accusers. Read story.

Gag Order Denied in Frimpong Case

A gag order hearing in the Eric Frimpong rape case Tuesday morning ended limits as what attorneys can say as the matter progresses. Additionally, prosecuting attorney Mary Barron was told that a written request for a restraining order would be needed in order to prevent Frimpong's associates from contacting the alleged victims.
