Mushroom Delight

Often in Big Sur my gaze is upwards and outwards - and I forget to look down. But in the winter, especially when the rain has softened them, the leaves provide beautiful patterns, multi-colored in a range of earth tones. This day a solitary white mushroom has poked its head up through the sycamore leaves, providing an even more captivating photo. Read story.

Intense Whitewater

A creek is never too small if you love whitewater. While traveling through the Smokeys I was lucky enough to watch as a number of kayakers hopped into their tiny boats, pushed their way down into what looked like frigid water and began to work their way down through what looked an impossible set of channels.
