Columbus (Corkey) B. Courson

1918 - 2008, Santa Barbara

Columbus B. (Corkey) Courson

Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love and presence of his family.

He was a Graduate of the University of California Berkley in 1940 with a degree in English, and later in Fiscal Education as well as obtaining a Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling.

A decorated WWII Veteran, Mr. Courson served as a Carrier Pilot in the Navy seeing combat in the South Pacific for 26 months. Following the War he spent his life as a Teacher and Administrator in the Orange Unified School District.

Columbus is survived by his wife of 67 years, Penny. His daughter Judith Burton, granddaughter Emily Burton and grandson James Burton. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Susan.

A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held Friday, May 2, 2008, 3:00pm at the Santa Barbara Cemetery Chapel. 901 Channel Dr.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice Services of Santa Barbara or a charity of your choice.
