Michaele O'Neill Carnahan

Michaele O'Neill Carnahan passed away unexpectedly on July 30, 2008, while flying to attend her nephew's wedding in Florida. Michaele was born in Flushing, N.Y. on May 10, 1947 but grew up with four sisters in Jacksonville, Florida. She spent most of her adult life on the central coast and moved to Santa Barbara in 1993 to become administrative director of the Center for Corrective Jaw Surgery. She was a dedicated and tireless worker who made everyone she worked with better by example. The impact of her influence is being manifested by a deluge of messages from doctors and patients with whom she interacted around the world, and of course family, friends, and fellow parishioners.

Michaele is preceded in death by her son, Sean Michael Carnahan, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edmond O'Neill, and sister, Eileen O'Neill. She is survived by her sisters, Justine Merriam (Ken), Sheila Parrillo (Jerry), Mollie O'Neill, all of Jacksonville, Florida, and Susann Williams (Jerry) of Goose Creek, S.C., and many nieces, nephews, other family and long time friend David Wolsey.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Jacksonville, with Father Jason C. Trull, pastor of St. Pius V, Holy Rosary and Crucifixion Parishes. Father Jason will also preside at the vigil in Santa Barbara.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 7, at 9:00 am followed by a rosary at 7:00 pm at Welch-Ryce-Haider Funeral Chapels, 15 E. Sola St. in Santa Barbara. Funeral service will be Friday, August 8, at 9:00 am at Saint Barbara's Parish at the Old Mission in Santa Barbara. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm at the San Luis Obispo Old Mission Cemetery located at 101 Bridge Street.

In lieu of flowers please make memorial gifts in her name to the charity of your choice.
