James Lynn Straight

1968 - 1998, Santa Barbara

August 7, 1968 December 11, 1998

Lynn Strait died ten years ago today in a tragic automobile accident at Mussel Shoals, along with his beloved dog Dobbs.

Today we are celebrating him, his spirit, his strength and his power. We laugh as we remember what a wild and wonderful man he was. Once Lynn hugged you, you never forgot him!

As Father Virgil Cordano said to us at his funeral, "this unusual soul will never die, he will just be in a different place where he will love and protect us forever. Lynn discovered music as the expression of his deepest desire. He found his way up from the depths of frustration to the heights of success. He began to believe not only in God, but in himself." His friends said, "You want to remember that Lynn lived his life fully, realized his dream and that is what we're all here to do. His smile and laughter touched all of our lives and left us better for having known him."

Lynn's legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of his family, friends and his Band, "Snot". In the last few months "Snot" has reunited and is on tour AGAIN with 70 shows booked throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. Wouldn't Lynn have loved this? It is almost as if he planned it! The Band said that in every city they play, everyone pays tribute to him:he has not been forgotten.

As we honor Lynn's memory today, it reminds us to live EACH DAY with all the love and passion we possess. He would want us to do that.

Sleep peacefully Dear Lynn and Dobbs. With much love,
your family, friends and your Band "Snot".
