Morris "Moree" Perlstein
1920 - 2009, Santa Barbara
Moree Perlstein, passed away April 27, 2009. He was 88 years young. Born in Petaluma August 10, 1920, and reared in San Francisco, he moved to Santa Barbara in 1942, where he met and married Vivien Marcus, the love of his life for 52 years before her death in 1996. Together they raised their three children, traveled the world and enjoyed all life had to offer.
Before becoming a real estate investor in the 60's, Moree owned several local businesses, including a hamburger stand on Stearn's Wharf, a liquor store in the Neal Hotel, the Salad Bowl on lower State Street and a Spud-Nut Shop on De La Vina Street.
Most people would agree that he was a classic, lucky, young-at-heart, life of the party kind of guy. Moree lived in the moment, never regretting yesterday or worrying about tomorrow. He loved people and had a wide and varied circle of friends from all walks of life. Everyone and anyone who ever met or knew him will never forget him. His daughter, Sandi, would describe him as someone who liked to "Eat, Drink & Be Moree!"
He is survived by his sons Ron Perlstein (Judy) of Beverly Hills, Harvey Perlstein (Joan) of Solvang, daughter Sandra Resnik (Bhrian) of Santa Barbara, grandchildren Jenna, Daniel, Celly, Alina & Rita, brother Fred Perlstein of Oakland, sister-in-law Diane Baskin, nieces Julie, Lori, Marcia, and their families, and many, many friends.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Paul Aijian, and the wonderful, caring staff at Maravilla and Mission Terrace.
There will be a celebration of Moree's life on Sunday, May 17th between 12-2p.m. Please RSVP to Sandi at 403-9508 by May 12th for further details.
