Robert L. Barron

1947 - 2010, Santa Barbara

Robert L. Barron, "Bob" or "Bobby" to his friends and papa or grandpa to his children and grandchildren, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at 1:15 am. He was 63 at the time of his death, having celebrated his natal birthday days earlier on Friday, April 9.

Bob was a brave soul, having been diagnosed with cancer nearly six years ago. Despite his determined fight, he led an active life up until the very end and never gave up. Bob believed life is a gift and meant to be lived, and so he did.

Bob was born as an orphan and lived through a tough childhood growing up and going from one foster home to another. At times he was abused but as an adult worked hard to turn this around to be a more loving, compassionate and kind individual. He loved people and animals, played the guitar and enjoyed music. He also loved the ocean and mountains two of his favorite places being Cape Cod, Massachusetts and of course his residence for the last ten plus years Santa Barbara.

In the late 60's Bob became friends with the Tilton family when he was living in Playa Del Rey, CA. Adelle became like his mom whom he never missed sending a Mother's Day card, Mac like his uncle or dad and Art like his brother and lifelong friend. He spent most holidays with the Tilton's and was like part of the family for most of his adult life.

Bob was blessed with two twin daughters, Meghan and Heather McDonald Barron and four grandchildren, Santos, Rubina, Isaac and Sammuel. They will always love and miss him as well as all the close friends Bob has made along the way in his life. Despite his battle with cancer over the last years, these may have been some of Bob's best and highest quality of life. He was a pillar of strength, a person with high moral character and one who will never be forgotten for his gift of love and compassion to others.
