Edgar Borneleit

1950 - 2010, Santa Barbara

Edgar Borneleit, 59 years young, passed from our world on Sunday, January 24, 2010, after battling the tsunami that was liver cancer. Edgar is proudly survived by his wife of 33 years, Cara-Lee; their children Harmony, Sara Rose, Christian, Kiki, Samantha and three grandchildren Lola, Caleb and Ethan as well as their ward and grandson Victor, 6yrs old. Edgar's mother, Irene, is living in San Francisco.

Edgar's passions were two-fold: Family and Masonry, both accompanied by a deep and quiet spirituality.

Edgar lived a life of service. He was a Freemason, a Hiram Award Recipient and 3 times Past Master of Santa Barbara Lodge 192. Edgar, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason was elected to receive his degrees on June 11, 1997. On October 3, 2001, he was awarded the K.C.C.H one of the highest awards given to a Scottish Rite Freemason. Edgar was a quietly active volunteer throughout Santa Barbara and Goleta; from helping to nominate Teacher of the Year, a nationally recognized award, to helping build the Santa Barbara Skate Board Park; from Highway Clean Up to helping most anyone who asked, Edgar was there. Edgar had a particular fondness for the Isla Vista Youth Center.

We, his family and friends, are left to grieve and celebrate a life most honorably lived. Edgar's unwavering character of integrity, decency, humility and great generosity of spirit and energy is his legacy to us.

We will miss him.

Services for Edgar are Saturday, January 30, 2010, 10 am in the Masonic Lodge at 16E Carrillo, Santa Barbara.

In lieu of flowers The Edgar Borneleit Support Fund for his family was established at the Santa Barbara Bank and Trust.
