Duncan Thornton Harper

1949 - 2010, Santa Barbara

Duncan Thornton Harper was born Aug. 11, 1949 in New York. He was 60 years old when he died of a heart attack on June 21, 2010 at Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital.

Duncan attended Cardigan Mountain School in Canaan, NH and Dunn School in Los Olivos. After graduating from Santa Barbara High School in 1967, he attended Santa Barbara City College and UCSB.

He worked in the restaurant business before becoming an electrician and starting a business installing telephone systems.

Duncan is survived by his sisters, Pamela Harper Gilbert of Santa Barbara, and Alix Leslie Harper of Sunny Isles Beach, FL. Survived also include his brothers-in-law, a nephew, nieces and numerous cousins
.
He was preceded in death by his father, Francis A. Harper, who died in 2003. His mother, Dorothy R. O’Reilly, died three weeks earlier in Florida.

Friends are invited to gather at Miramar Beach on Thursday, July 15 at 8:45 A.M. for a time of fellowship and remembrance, and to say good-bye with Duncan’s family.

Welch-Ryce-Haider Funeral Chapels were in charge of arrangements.
