James Douglas "Duke" Croft

1944 - 2010, Santa Barbara

March 13, l944 - September 6, 2010

Born in Owen Sound, Ontario Canada, died suddenly, tragically at age 66 in Santa Barbara. Predeceased by father, Jim Croft of Santa Barbara and mother Melba Croft of Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada. Survived by his sister Beverlee Nelson of North Hollywood, California, niece, Cate Nelson of Santa Barbara, nephew Jon Nelson, wife Joelle and their children Wyatt and Jagger, of Los Angeles, Calif.

Doug graduated from Mesa College, San Diego, with a degree in Physics, and University of California, San Diego, with a degree in Economics. He previously held a copilot license to fly commercial aircraft. Doug was a member of the Inventors Club of Santa Barbara.

An aviator with a passion for flying small and large aircraft, he often flew remote controlled planes off the cliffs of Santa Barbara. He was a talented photographer, guitar player and surfer. His family and friends will miss his quick wit, fantastic sense of humor and funny stories.

Cremation, with burial at sea off the coast of his favorite beach in Santa Barbara, where he will join his father.
