On December 7, 1941 (Pearl Harbor Day) she married her childhood sweetheart Dr. Perf Paul Riparetti at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Montecito. He had a private medical practice in Santa Barbara for 30 years.

As the mother of five children, she took part in many school activities for which she was awarded honorary lifetime member in the PTA.

She was president of the Santa Barbara County Medical Society Auxiliary, belonged to the Assistance League of Santa Barbara and the National Charity League and many other charitable organizations. She was a member of the La Cumbre Country Club for 60 years where she enjoyed golf and companionship. She also held memberships in the Italian-American Boot Club, Coral Casino and the Channel City Club. She was a member of the Bible Belles of the Santa Barbara Old Mission, which was led by Father Virgil Cordano.

She enjoyed lunching monthly with a group called "the recycled teenagers", a dozen women who have been meeting since they graduated in 1936 from Santa Barbara High, where they bonded playing "after school sports."

She is survived by her sons John (Mary), Steven (Susan), Tony (Carol), daughter Melissa (Christian Stepien), her grandchildren, sister-in-law Amelia Riparetti and many nieces and nephews. Her son Jim Riparetti predeceased her.

She loved her grand children Latimer Smith (Megan), Owen Riparetti (Raphaela) Patrick Riparetti, Tom and Marguerite Riparetti-Brown and extended family Nick and Taylor Barnett.

The family would like to thank the staff at Valle Verde Retirement Center for giving Pauline comfort and care in the latter years of her life.

Per her request there will be no service and she will be buried beside her beloved husband of 63 years at Calvary Cemetery. A “Celebration of Life” will be held Saturday June 4, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at 818 Sea Ranch Drive, 93109. Remembrances may be made in her name to the Santa Barbara Foundation, 1111 Chapala St., Ste. 200, Santa Barbara, CA, 93101, for the Riparetti Medical Scholarship Fund. Arrangements by Welch-Ryce-Haider, 965-5145.
