David Hoskinson, former Isla Vista resident, died suddenly at his home in Ft. Lauderdale on December 9. David moved on to bigger things in the early 1980s but he is still remembered in Isla Vista for his community activism including his role as Executive Director of The Isla Vista Open Door Clinic.

On Saturday January 19, a memorial service celebrating life will be held from 3:00- 6:30 in Goleta, at the temporary home of Dr. David Bearman at 373 Hillsboro Court . It will be followed by time to just hang out and reminisce, with the first annual David Hoskinson Memorial Poker Game commencing ay 8:00. All of David’s old friends and acquaintances are urged to attend.

At the time of his death David was an executive at Ft. Lauderdale based Pediatrix Medical Group. He was an active member of the Fort Lauderdale community. He had previously worked as an executive for Arthur Anderson, Prudential and Dignity Health.

Hoskinson was a vegetarian and a strong anti-smoking advocate.. He loved to play basketball and travel. He was a fan of the rock group U2 and went to their concerts all over the world. Hoskinson was the oldest of seven children of an Irish Catholic family in Chicago. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biological sciences at Quincy College and his MBA at the University of California at Berkeley.
