Ruth Wahlborg

1918 - 2013, Santa Barbara

The daughter of Alf and Kirsten Brogger immigrants from Norway and Denmark, Ruth was born in Seattle, Washington. She grew up primarily in San Francisco, graduated from Lowell High School and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science from UC Berkeley.

During WW2 she worked in the San Francisco Library system as a reference librarian and stayed with that job until 1951 when she married Eddi Wahlborg and raised her son Hal and help raise her stepson Eddie. After 1968 she went to work in the library at the Santa Barbara City College and lived for 55 years on the Mesa on Shoreline Drive.

Her last two years she was helped by the loving care of Nurse Kim Roden and her family. She loved playing tennis, the ocean, bridge at the SB Bridge Club, cats, reading books, and gardening.

She is survived by her sons, two grandchildren and one grandchild.
