Elisabeth Anne Bertero

1948 - 2014, Santa Barbara

“Betsy” died at home in Santa Barbara CA, after a long illness.

Betsy was born in Los Angeles, CA to the late John Benedict Bertero and Mary Elizabeth Nagle. She grew up in West Los Angeles, attended Mayfield Senior School, and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern California in 1969.

She moved to Santa Barbara in 1979. Her career spanned work at Price, Postel and Parma, the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, UC Santa Barbara’s Bren School and The Fielding Institute.

Her passions were travel, art, literature and the beach. Her love of travel and art began with her first trip to Europe as a child and took her all over Europe throughout the course of her life.

Survived by her siblings John Benedict Bertero, Jr., Barbara Antonia “Toni” Bertero, and James Bernard Bertero, nine nieces and nephews, 17 grand nieces and nephews, and her companion John Omweg. Predeceased by her sister Mary Bertero Atondo.
