Thomas Fred Dietrich

Thomas Dietrich of Goleta passed away after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his wife and three daughters on November 26, 2016 at the age of 70.

Thomas Fred Dietrich was born on July 24th 1946 in Houston Texas to parents Fred and Louise Dietrich. Tom spent his early childhood years in Texas before moving to Los Angeles where he attended Lutheran High School of LA. Tom moved to Santa Barbara, CA to attend Brooks Institute where he studied photography, and met his wife Ilene who attended UCSB. Though Tom and Ilene moved out of state for a time, they eventually moved back to Santa Barbara where they settled permanently and raised their three daughters.

Over his years as a Santa Barbara resident, Tom worked for UCSB in the television/learning resources department, for Muench Family Photography doing digital pre-press among numerous other photographic related adventures, and finally for Pacific Diagnostic Lab. Tom had an avid love for photography, was an integral member of his church family, and was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.

Tom is survived by his older sister Mary, his wife Ilene, their three daughters Wendy, Alysha, and Brenda, and 8 grand children, Jackson, Hollyn, Katelyn, Kaylin, Gordon, Owen, Mayah and Hannah.

A memorial service will be held on January 2nd at 11:00 am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Goleta.
