Kathleen J. Boisen
1947 - 2019
Dr. Kathleen J. Boisen transitioned into the spirit realm while in her home on January 10, 2019. She was a undying source of love, wisdom, and knowledge for everyone that she knew and will be missed with a deep intensity by everyone that loved her.
Kathleen was born in Berkeley, California to two loving parents, Harley and Lillie Boisen. Although a native Californian, Dr. Boisen spent extensive time in Spain, France, Finland, Russia and England, before moving back to Santa Barbara. For 40 years, she was an Integrative Medicine Practitioner, Doctor of Oriental Medicine, Licensed Acupuncturist, and Certified Hypnotherapist. She obtained a degree in Medical Anthropology/Sociology from the University of Helsinki, Finland, and a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Oriental Medicine from the International College of Oriental Medicine, England (1976-1981). She also studied at the College of Homeopathy in London. She obtained her Doctorate in Oriental Medicine at the California Acupuncture College. She then became the Dean of Acupuncture and College Clinic Director at the Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine (1982-1986). Kathleen was also the Dean of Acupuncture and a professor at the American Lotus Healing Arts Institute. Kathleen was an overflowing well of knowledge, making her the most influential healer in many people’s lives.
Kathleen was known for her generous spirit. Everyone who knew her knew that they could go to her for anything they needed. She was always willing to lend herself in service of others, with great love, joy, and devotion. Kathleen was a devoted spiritual woman, never subscribing to one religion, but instead exploring all facets of connection to the divine realm. The energy that radiated off of her was contagious as it was fueled by her commitment to meditation, prayer, and love.
Kathleen is survived by a loving circle of family, friends, colleagues, and patients including her two brothers and their wives, Kent and Katheryn Boisen, and Brad and Karen Boisen, and her beloved nieces and nephews, Katelyn, Kelly, Nils, and Thor. As well as countless close friends who were like family to her. The family of Kathleen will feel the void of her physical presence throughout our lifetimes, though because her spirit is so strong, we will walk on knowing she is still with us.
