WILCOX, Rosemary Christine Samu. 52, passed away May 30, 2008 from pancreatic
cancer.

Rosemary considered herself a Santa Barbaran because she moved here from Chula Vista, CA in 1976 to go to UCSB and never left.

She worked as a Registered Nurse throughout the community for 30 years enjoying private duty, the Rehabilitation Institute and most recently the United Blood Services Blood Bank where she had worked the last 8 years.

She had many interests that included gardening, reading, beadwork, stained glass and music, buoyed along with her sense of curiosity and earthy sense of humor.

Her daughter, Alexandra, now 20, has been her “Shining Star” which gave her life a sense of completeness and joy as they learned and supported each other.

“I will always be with you”, she told her daughter repeatedly.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, John (J.D.) Wilcox, her daughter, Alexandra Michelle Wilcox – both of Santa Barbara, her brother, Christopher Samu, his wife and their children, Stephan and Sabina of El Cerrito.

In lieu of flowers (though she loved them dearly), Rosemary would like donations made to Serenity House, Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice of Santa Barbara for their efforts in making peoples’ last journey a transformational one.

A Celebration of Rosemary’s Life will be held at her family home at 419 Calle Alamo, Santa Barbara from 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2008.

Arrangements by McDermott-Crockett Mortuary.
