Charles Edward Gibson, 30, died on March 24, 2009, following a brain injury while snowboarding with his son at Mammoth Mountain, California. Chuck was born September 25, 1978, in Bryan, Texas. He was living in Santa Barbara, California, where he was happiest.

Chuck was a unique human being with an incredible sense of humor and a great heart. In a moment of extreme sarcasm, Chuck stated that his purpose in life was to be an organ donor; he fulfilled that destiny. He is survived by his son, Tyler Dean Gibson of Phoenix, Arizona, his parents, Jerry and Elaine Gibson of Santa Barbara, and his sister Erin Gibson of San Diego, California. The family wishes to thank all the people in this community who gave him their encouragement and support.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tyler Gibson Education Trust, which will support the education of Chuck’s son, or to the Charles Gibson Foundation, a non-profit organization that will support treatment and research for Asperger’s Syndrome, a form of autism that Chuck struggled with during his lifetime. Contributions can be sent to E. Gibson, PO Box 30628, Santa Barbara, CA 93105.
