IN MEMORIAM

October 19, 1933 – April 29, 2007

Five years ago this week my family lost the Chief of its Tribe. As many of us know, losing a loved one is a life shattering moment. These moments tenderize the heart, and remind us how precious life truly is. My dad was a Warrior: he loved life and fought to stay alive until it was time to let go. Hobbs was an amazing man. He was a gentleman, and he worked hard to support our family.

The stories that are shared about a person after they pass are always amazing. The overall feeling I got from the people who knew Hobbs for so many years is how kind and generous he was. He was a successful businessman in real-estate development, and he loved what he did. Hobbs also loved exercising, being outdoors eating good food, and spending time with his dogs, friends and family. Yet, he also savored his time alone. He inspired us to live a balanced life. Hobbs loved our mom very much and they had a deep respect and understanding for one another, two halves of a whole.

Hobbs left behind an amazing legacy: Our family: Sharon (wife), Suzanne (daughter), Oliver and Ben Fries (grandsons) Michael (son), Natasha (daughter in law) Luke, Emma and Finn (grandkids) Leslie (daughter) Todd Maschmedt (son in law) Sam, Charlie and Teddy (grandsons). We continue to grow and flourish. I am sure I speak for us all when I say that not a day goes by without Hobbs entering our mind. Five years has passed and his loss is still felt deeply, the loss of a leader so incredibly loved and missed.
