SONGER, Adrian
01/17/1946 – 07/14/2012

Adrian Songer was not a saint, as many of Santa Barbara’s finest Catholic schools could attest. But he was a loving and whimsical father; a devoted husband; a political debater with a memory for facts that discouraged even the sharpest liberals from engaging him in discussion; a fearsome voice on the other end of the line if you phoned after 9pm; a hard-ass boss who opened his home to his employees; a cat-hater who found unexpected love with a succession of felines; a car enthusiast who owned upwards of 40 vehicles in as many years (whether or not they worked was immaterial); a born sailor with a love of the ocean combined with terrible seasickness; and a devoted cheerleader at his son Jacob’s many sporting events. We will miss his gruff voice, his bear hug, his pep talk, his love.

Survived by his wife, Christina; his children, Katey, Renee, Sarah, and Jacob; his grandchildren, Claire, Lily, and Owen; his brother, Fran; and he will be missed by many other family, friends and longtime associates of Pacific Press/Fast Print Services.

Services on Friday, July 20 at 1pm, at Santa Barbara Community Church, 1002 Cieneguitas Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jacob’s college fund at Montecito Bank and Trust.
